Dignity at Work Policy

MJ Quinn believes that everyone should be treated with respect and dignity at work. MJ Quinn wishes to provide a stimulating and supportive working environment which will enable its staff to fulfil their personal potential and creativity.

Such an environment cannot exist where any member of staff is subjected to harassment, intimidation, aggression or coercion. It is therefore company policy to provide a healthy working environment in which everyone is respected.

MJ Quinn is fully committed to the principles of equal opportunities and diversity in the workplace and regards harassment as a form of discrimination.

Disciplinary action, including dismissal, may be taken against any employee who is found to have violated this policy.

Improper and inappropriate behaviour such as harassment and intimidation, is not only damaging to the individual (as it can lead to fear, stress, anxiety, illness, absenteeism or poor performance) but also this behaviour can affect organisational efficiency. Thus this behaviour will not be tolerated within MJ Quinn.

Any employee who is the victim of bullying or harassment has the right to put forward a grievance and will be protected against retaliation or victimisation.

The policy covers bullying and harassment in the workplace and in any work-related setting outside the workplace, e.g. business trips and work-related social events.

The policy also applies to any bullying or harassment by customers, suppliers, vendors or visitors and, in these cases, employees should report any such behaviour to their manager who will take appropriate action. Bullying or harassment of customers, suppliers, vendors, visitors or others will be dealt with through the disciplinary procedure.

The Dignity at Work policy and procedure applies to all MJ Quinn employees who are in full-time or part-time employment and who are on permanent, fixed-term or temporary contracts of employment. The policy is also applicable to contractors and consultants.
