Hearts & Minds: Building a Positive Safety Culture

On the 9th and 10th of July, our team took part in the transformative “Hearts & Minds” course at Openreach’s Bolton Training Centre. This two-day session was an eye-opening experience, emphasising the importance of health and safety in the workplace. The course delved into how a company’s culture can significantly impact health and safety, underlining the need for a more positive and supportive approach.

The training reinforced the idea that health and safety is not just about following procedures because we have to, but because we understand why it matters. Through real-life examples, we explored the profound effects of workplace incidents on individuals and their families, as well as the critical role managers play in fostering a culture of safety. Our Health and Safety team is now working on new initiatives to promote safer working practices and a positive health and safety culture across the company. The key message is clear: everyone has a part to play in ensuring that all of us, including our colleagues at Openreach, contractors, and the public, go home safe.

Celebrating Success with a Summer BBQ

In July, we also took a moment to celebrate our team’s record-breaking achievements with a well-deserved BBQ and ice cream social for all our office staff. The event was a wonderful opportunity to recognise the hard work and dedication of our team, and to reflect on the incredible progress we’ve made together.

Honouring International Women in Engineering Day

Following International Women in Engineering Day in June, we continued to celebrate and recognise the incredible contributions of women in our industry throughout July. We shared inspirational stories and statistics showing the increasing number of female engineers in our company—a trend we are proud to support and promote. Equality and diversity are at the heart of what we do, and we look forward to continuing to work with all our engineers as we strive towards a more inclusive future.

Winning Work Through Environment, Social & Governance

To round off the month, our team had the pleasure of attending the ‘Winning Work Through Environment, Social & Governance’ event hosted by the Knowsley Chamber of Commerce. The event was an excellent opportunity to engage with industry leaders and gain valuable insights into how environmental, social, and governance (ESG) principles are shaping the future of business. Our team left inspired and ready to integrate these important principles even more deeply into our work at MJ Quinn.
