The introduction of tablets across the MJ Quinn Training Academy is a practical example of this value in action. By reducing our reliance on paper-based documents, we are taking meaningful steps to lower our environmental footprint while creating more efficient ways of working. Based on our 2025 figures, this change is expected to prevent approximately 16 tonnes of CO₂ emissions each year from paper consumption, eliminate a further 131kg of CO₂ emissions through reduced toner cartridge use, and reduce energy consumption by around 80 kWh annually.
The environmental benefits extend beyond paper savings alone. Printer and toner cartridge manufacturing is resource-intensive, generating greenhouse gas emissions, chemical pollutants and plastic waste. A single toner cartridge requires approximately 1.5kg of raw materials, including plastics derived from crude oil and various metals. By reducing our dependence on these resources, we can significantly lessen the environmental impact associated with printing.
Alongside the environmental benefits, the move to digital documents will help reduce operational costs, improve access to information and provide a more efficient and modern learning experience. This investment demonstrates how innovation and sustainability can work together to deliver lasting benefits for our colleagues, our business and the environment, helping us bring our Sustaining Our Future value to life every day.
This version gives the sustainability figures more prominence and directly links the initiative back to MJ Quinn’s core values in a way that feels purposeful rather than added as an afterthought.
