Jono and Kev's Walk to Work

Remember - There's always someone to talk to!

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, MJ Quinn are proud to share that two staff members, Kevin Walkington and Jonathan O’Neill, completed a 5-day Walk to Work campaign, travelling from their home town of Leicester to our Head Office in Knowsley, Liverpool.

On Monday, 12th May, Kev and Jono embarked on their walk to work, promoting exercise and encouraging open conversations about mental wellbeing. Their goal was to create space for connection, reflection, and support, one step at a time, reminding everyone that ‘there is always someone to talk to’.

Mental health is a silent epidemic, claiming the lives of too many men under the age of 50. This demographic represents a significant portion of our workforce, and in recent years, we have faced the heartbreaking loss of five colleagues who suffered in silence. In an effort to raise awareness and foster open conversations about mental health, Jono & Kev shall be to walking 130 miles to work over five days.
We encourage anyone and everyone to join us along the route for a chat, reminding each other that there is always someone willing to listen.
We are proud to support Foothold, the Institution of Engineering & Technology Benevolent Fund, which offers vital support services for those in need. Together, let’s break the stigma surrounding mental health and create a community where everyone feels valued and heard.

The campaign welcomed everyone to join them along the way, whether they were dealing with personal issues, had something on their mind, or simply wanted to enjoy fresh air and good company. Walking provided a great opportunity to exercise, talk, and connect.

The campaign garnered attention beyond the company’s walls. The story was even picked up by the BBC. This recognition served as a fantastic reminder of the power of small actions to spark big conversations. A huge thank you went out to Kev and Jono for leading the way, both literally and figuratively
