At MJ Quinn, our values guide everything we do, and last week’s ‘Stand Down’ morning at Brocton Sandblasting Farm was a strong reflection of this in action. Bringing together colleagues from our Fleet, Civils and Poling teams, the session created a dedicated space to focus on the fundamentals that keep our people, our operations and the public safe.
The morning centred on in-depth vehicle checks, with a particular focus on load security, vehicle condition and weight compliance. These critical checks are essential to ensuring our fleet operates safely and efficiently on the roads.
What stood out most was the level of care, attention and diligence demonstrated throughout. The session reinforced that getting the basics right—every time—is key to preventing risk and maintaining high standards across our operations. This is a clear reflection of our value Safety Always Matters, ensuring that safety remains at the forefront of every task, no matter how routine.
The ‘Stand Down’ also provided an opportunity for teams to come together, share knowledge and learn from one another. By creating an open and collaborative environment, colleagues were encouraged to ask questions, exchange experiences and strengthen their understanding of best practice.
