Existing electrical and mechanical systems required adaptation
to support modern healthcare technologies without full
replacement
All installations had to meet stringent NHS specifications,
including HTMs, HBNs, and BS regulations for safety, hygiene,
and performance.
Works were carefully phased to avoid interference with ongoing hospital operations, including out-of-hours work for service tie-ins.
Electrical, HVAC, plumbing, and data systems needed precise coordination to avoid clashes within ceiling voids and partition walls.
MJ Quinn delivered a fully integrated mechanical and electrical refurbishment at the Perinatal Suite.
Electrical works included new sub-mains, LED lighting, emergency call points, CCTV, fire alarms, and access control – each aligned with NHS safety and anti-ligature standards.
Smart distribution boards and clearly labelled accessories supported future maintenance and scalability.
Mechanical upgrades featured a VRF air conditioning system with touchscreen controls, enhanced ventilation via ERV units and CO sensors, and rebalanced heating with new insulated pipework. Hot and cold-water services were rerouted and chlorinated to meet potable standards.
Digital modelling ensured smooth coordination across disciplines, with all systems commissioned to CIBSE and BSRIA standards and full O&M documentation provided.
