Manchester Academy partnered with M J Quinn to lead a comprehensive infrastructure enhancement project, with a clear focus on modernisation and sustainability. The initiative aimed to improve energy efficiency, reduce carbon emissions, and upgrade key systems—all while ensuring minimal disruption to the academy’s daily operations
A major goal was to significantly lower the academy’s environmental impact.

Upgrading outdated systems to improve performance and reduce energy consumption.

Ensuring the academy could continue functioning smoothly throughout the works
Specific attention was needed for the sports hall heating system
Modifications had to maintain the integrity of the facility’s
structural elements

MJ Quinn developed a tailored solution for Manchester Academy to boost energy efficiency and operational functionality. This included installing 900kW of Air Source Heat Pumps (ASHP) to lower carbon emissions and improve heating, along with integrating Solar Panel Arrays and upgrading to LED lighting to reduce energy consumption. The sports hall heating system was specifically upgraded for user comfort, and meticulous builders work modifications were made to maintain the facility’s structural integrity.
Additionally, a robust Building Management System (BMS) was implemented for centralised control and monitoring of building functions, enhancing resource management and operational efficiency.
MJ Quinn’s comprehensive approach delivered a sustainable, future-ready solution for Manchester Academy, meeting the academy’s needs and aligning with its commitment to excellence in education and environmental stewardship. The project not only modernised the infrastructure but also established a framework for continued energy efficiency and operational excellence.
At MJ Quinn we believe new projects should be undertaken with great amount of consideration, planning and research.
